Via Snail Mail

A big thank you to friend and blog reader, Heidi, who sent me some great articles and info just recently! Besides all of the somewhat depressing articles on the absorption of the small, Catholic women's college we both attended into the co-ed Fordham University in the Bronx (Is there still a market for schools like this? That is definitely a post for another day...); she also included a really interesting link about English Language Learners in Middle and High School. You can check it out here. Make sure you check out the websites listed under web resources on their home page. There are too many to list, but if you are a parent of a late-entry English language learner, it is well worth sifting through their resources.

Thanks again, Heidi!

Hi Jane! I'm glad to hear that you received the articles I sent. I thought of you and the other ark members often the past few days - We took the kids to see the movie "Evan Almighty" which inspired H & Z to take out the Fisher Price Ark for some creative play! I thought the movie was family-friendly and had some meaningful life messages. Take Care- Love, Heidi

Hi Heidi!
I have been wondering about that movie ever since it came out, given the name of course. I'll have to keep my eyes out for it on DVD. Sounds like a good family movie night flick.

Talk to you soon!

The link didn't work.. do you think you could email it to me? I would love to share it with our ELL teacher. She has been fabulous with Pipo, but she is always looking for more.

Hi Denise,

Sorry about the link. I've been working with Firefox as my browser lately and it has a few little quirks that I'm still getting used to...I fixed (and checked!) it out. It's definitely worth the time. It even has things specifically for ELL teachers. Hope you all had a blessed Assumption!
